history;; befriending ambrus; The faint scent of blood was weighing heavily upon my senses, so I decided to investigate it. I was deep in the woods, hiding from the sun's penetrating rays so that I may retain as much hydration as possible. But the scent was caressing me tenderly with it's metallic tendrils, so monstrous paws cast forth to advance prodigious brindled mass toward the source. My pace was a brisk jog, keeping a steady gait so that I could regulate my breathing. Squared muzzle was ajar as salmon tongue lolled to the side, sea green lenses casting a web of vision. Soon, the trees began to dissipate and a clearing came into view. The rustling of tall grasses caught my eye, so I delved into the sea of emerald blades. My pace was now slow as steady, with enlarged skull dipped low so that I may better scope out the area. As I neared, the chittering chirping of a bird echoed out, and as I broke through the jade stalks, the morsel lay minorly injured. Blood had stained his intricately patterned wing, and as he panicked in my presence it was apparent his leg was also injured somehow. "hold, dog! i wont be a meal today. off with you!" the falcon screeched at me, but I did not shy. Instead, I grimaced. "oh hush, I'm not here to eat you. What happened?" I asked him. His amber eyes rolled dramatically. "I got into a tussle with another falcon." He retorted. I gestured toward my indifference, then reached to nudge him lightly with my nose, just about his chest, where the falcon then seemed to calm. Lightly, I grasped the bird of prey within my jowls, cupping him gingerly so I was sure not to injure him more. I retreated back into the woods, sprinting now so that I could quickly mask his blood scent so another predator wouldn't come scavenging for a meal. I made shelter out of unearthed roots which cascaded overhead, making a wonderful den should I crouch. The falcon and I ducked under the mossy roots, where I lay him upon the mire. He still looked at me suspiciously, as he should, however I had no intentions on consuming him. I was able to sustain myself with mice and rabbits, so I wasn't starving. His amber irises were large, peering up at me as he perched brokenly. I huffed a bit, snorting as I darted out to retrieve nesting materials for the bird. The next few weeks we spent together, sharing meals and him recuperating. He then would attempt to fly, failing so far and I couldn't say I wished him success. It was nice having his company. However I never voiced this, I didn't want him to think me desperate. The following weeks to come, everything was as usual, then the following morning I rose to hunt as usual. It usually took me half the day, so when I returned to our den, Ambrus was missing. There was no blood anywhere, so I assumed he just took off without a word. I dropped the couple of mice I'd caught, as my shoulders sank. Deflated and bewildered, I pivoted around, then heard a scuffle, and there stood a large wolf with red eyes, ebony fur, elongated fangs, a vampiric lupine consumed deep with the virus. No doubt his saliva was also poison, a single bite could kill me. The monstrous beast lunged, and as I ducked to hopefully miss his line of attack, a screech of ear splitting measures ricocheted through the trees. A flash of bird and the lupine crying aloud, thrashing my head to see. Ambrus had blinding the wolf with his lethal claws, digging them into the sockets without mercy then soaring out of reach. The vampire staggered away, bleeding from the eyes, no doubt forever injured.
Since, Ambrus and I go everywhere together. We rescued one another, and I couldn't ever be rid of my lovely parasite.
