Personality
The first thing many will notice about Anais upon meeting her is the cruel, suspicious air that hangs around her. She has a difficult time trusting others, even after she has known them for some time. Her tactic with being forced to cooperate with other canines is to simply grin and bear it, only barely standing their presence. She does not 'play nicely' with others, unless they have worked to earn her respect. Those who try her small patience will be quick to right their wrongs.
Anais's temper is well known to those few who see her regularly. She won't hesitate to snap and growl, but usually prefers her chilling glare and crisp voice to get her point across. What's more is that she rarely ever forgets a face; especially if it has 'wronged' her in any way. To those with prior infractions, Anais has been known to be especially vile. She can and will hold a grudge without hesitation.
However, should one gain her trust and respect, a totally different side can be shown. Though only coming out in privacy, and even then on special occasions, Anais has been known to be playful. Rigid and unloving around any other canine, when she lets loose, she goes all out. Prancing about like a clumsy yearling, Anais will dance around and even entice the other to play.
Her laugh has seldom been heard, but it is rumored to sound like that of sharp autumn wind. If anyone brings it up outside the special group of creatures who have experienced it, it is grounds for not only being thoroughly chewed out, but also to be cut cleanly out of Anais's life.
Her vanity means she expends a great deal of energy to maintain the image she has, and if anyone dares so much as to try to smudge it in even the smallest way, their head will become her next prize. The select few who do get this close and are wise enough to keep it secret can be reassured a comfortable life. Anais refuses to provide nothing but the best for those whom she feels so oddly for. One can expect a firm guard, a worried caretaker, and even a jealous lover at times.
If Anais finds someone who she feels is of high value to her attention, she feels the same should be said for her in their eyes. Yet, that happens to so few others. 'But why?', might one ask. She is such a lady, after all. To those like herself, she is. But to anyone who does not understand the life of an outcast like she has, as a pariah and an abomination, Anais instead sees them as the filth.

Background
Anais and her brother's past was not an easy one. Their family was not native to the area, but rather rogues fighting to survive off of the out-lands surrounding it. Wide open wilderness, and a thousand and one things trying to eat you. Their parents were a part of a small, loosely knit pack consisting of purely family members. Aunts, uncles, cousins alike. While a 'family', none of them were ever truly close; they only stuck around for the sake of surviving in numbers. If ever given the chance, it was a common assumption that they'd all turn on each other.
Psychosis and many other mental issues ran rampant through their bloodline, leaving tensions high. As a result, the pup's parents were especially protective. Not that it did them any good, over the long haul. From birth, Anais and her siblings were treated differently. Where most youngsters were often ignored, she and her small group were openly hated. One of their parents had to stay to keep an eye on them while the other was out hunting, so that the pups were not simply disposed of. Anais was too young at the time to understand. Even as her siblings, one by one, 'disappeared' or became incredibly ill and passed away, she didn't understand why everyone was leaving her.
Through a matter of months, Anais's siblings were taken away, until all that was left was herself and her brother. From the time they came into the world, Anais was attached to his hip. She was naturally a shy dog where he was more confident. He stuck up for her whenever someone said something nasty or picked on her, and before long, Anais came to almost idolize him. At 7 months old, she vowed to never let anyone or anything take her brother from her. She would stop at nothing to keep him by her side.
It was then that she began looking into herbs and poisons. Her parents were slightly concerned with her fascination with them, but figured she'd be better off with some use rather than being the quiet, runty little punching bag. So, they left Anais in the care of one of her aunts during the day. Anais never remembered her name; it was unimportant to her. She was just another spiteful bitch, but one with information that she wanted. Despite her aching loneliness from being so far away from her brother, Anais was a voracious student. She learned much, and she learned quickly.
By the time they were a year and a half old, Anais had all but begun to master the art. Her teacher had died two months prior of a mysterious toxin that she had ingested, but few truly missed her. Content with being with her brother, she stayed quiet, laid low for a time. Things were as peaceful as they were ever to be, until they tried to rip everything she loved away.
What was done with most males as they were about to come of age was that they were simply tossed out of the pack, told to start their own life and to quit freeloading. Those who came crawling back were castrated and seen as lower than dirt. As Anais's brother was almost of that age, his time had come. Anais had been cuddled up against his side at the time, basking in the warmth from his body. The 'leaders' of their pack, or rather their grandparents and grand uncles/aunts, had come to the small tree they laid under and ripped him away from her.
The time they spent apart was short, but painful. Only a few nights after having been separated, Anais had collected enough Nightshade to poison those who would try to stop her from leaving. Few of those who she tainted survived; leaving her free to chase after her beloved brother. Having followed the tracks he left behind, Anais caught up after a few days, though starving, dehydrated, and filthy.
Afraid to lose him again without him knowing her true feelings for him, Anais confessed her love to her brother, only to find that her feelings were unappreciated. Her brother was disgusted, even attempting to chase her off and away from him. But Anais was determined.
With her great knowledge of plants and herbs, she managed to drug a scavenged kill, bringing it back for her brother to eat. The drugs she gave him left his inhibitions lowered, his mind hazed and easy to mold while the effects lasted. It was during that time that Anais convinced her brother that she was his mate.
No sooner had Anais accomplished what she wanted, however, had the drugs worn off at her brother turned violent. He drove her off once more, only to wander around aimlessly with their offspring growing in her belly.
