Do not steal.
Yurei traipses along, paw pads cushioning her steps; the dry earth seemed determine to suck the life out of any inhabitants. Luckily, the wild dog was rather used to such weather, and casting her gaze upwards, notes with some satisfaction that it was actually rather cool compared to the usual temperatures. A thin wisp of a cloud was blocking a portion of the sun. which was likely the cause. Large ears swiveling atop her head, she casts her senses outwards, searching for the telltale scuffling of a dassie burrowing into the loose sand. To her mild displeasure, she heard no such thing.
The fem supposed she had no need to hunt - even if her living body during the day told her that she was hungry, such pangs would disperse as she took on a less tangible form at night. Even so, old habits die hard - and they were indeed rather old - and the delectable rodent remained to be one of her favorite foods. Emitting a dissatisfied growl under her breath, she alters her course until she was closer to Eagle's Rock, where the structure cast a large expanse of blissful shade. It was there that she chose to sit, not quite expecting company due to the sheer barrenness of the land - visitors, she found, were few and far between.

Rebel's paws moved easily as he made his way along the desert. the hot sand stung his pads, but he kept on moving. he raised his head. the area was hot and sticky. why he decided to come this way he'll never know but here he was and there was nothing he could do now but move on. a female had passed through here recently...but she was a different species from what her scent was telling him. AWD it appeared to be. shrugging, he continued on the way until his eyes landed on the painted dog a few feet from him. he tucked his hindquarters into a sitting position and kept his front legs keeping his upper body erect. he regarded her and cleared his throat.
"Hi there. I'm Rebel, what might your name be miss?" he asked her curiously as he waited for her to respond. he hoped she was friendly. tag:Yurei
Her eyes seem to flicker to life; the cutting of a voice through her thoughts had been wholly unexpected. In fact, so was his presence, as aforementioned, company was hardly the norm. Taking a moment to appraise him - not in a rude way, but she had quickly realized he was of a different... group, so to speak - she responds in a decidedly mellow tone, "You can call me Yurei." The phrase sounded haughty, but the ghost of a smile she offered afterwards - no pun intended - made it sound kind rather than shallow. Then, with a slight furrowing of her brow, "What brings you to the desert...Rebel? There aren't often newcomers around these parts." Her voice had a natural drawl to it, an accent of sorts.
