Appearance
Austin is your average golden retriever when it comes to his looks. His coat is long, especially around his ears and his neck, with shorter areas on his body and legs. This coat is colored a very light gold with a single patch of white on his chest. He keeps himself well groomed, meaning that his coat is often rather clean when he can manage to find a good water source. This leaves the color almost spotless aside from a few areas where his coat has darkened over the years.
His nose and paw pads are a deep chocolate brown, a lighter spot showing on the top of his nose. They almost match his eyes which are a similar, more soulful brown that seems to give away each of his emotions. He loves his eyes anyways, thinking the innocence that they show is something to be proud of in this dog-eat-dog world.

Personality
Hero-Complex // Austin wants to be a hero, one that every dog in the world looks to when things go wrong. He tries his hardest to make this dream a reality. He throws himself in between fights and pushes others to follow their dreams; however, this mostly just gets him laughed at and shoved aside.
Stubborn // Austin, though often a push-over with the ones that he cares for, is a completely stubborn dog when it comes to others. If somebody tells him that he can't do something, he's going to try his hardest to do it. If somebody has a different opinion than something he clings to, he's going to fight for his side no matter the cost.
Loyal // With being stubborn, he is also fiercely loyal to the ones that he's close to. He pushes them and helps them when they fall. He is completely willing to put his needs aside to take care of a friend or a lover.
Curious // Curiosity killed the cat, or in this case, perhaps the dog. Austin suffers from an inability to keep his nose out of others business. He gets into bad situations because of this and sometimes ends up getting his butt beat. Its all worth it though, when he finds out the answers he was looking for!
Energetic // Aussie is horribly active. No matter the occasion or his level of exhaustion, he will always find a reason to move. He will tap his tail constantly even in bad situations. He will shake and tremble if he can't do something, it seems.
Brash // He isn't one to hold back. Austin is an up-in-your-face and very much attention-seeking dog who isn't afraid to get a little irritating if he needs to. He also isn't afraid to say what needs to be said...and in a rather blunt manner as well.
Naive // With his hero-complex, constant need to look for the good in everything, and his friendly disposition, Austin is a naive dog. He will make friends with just about anyone in an attempt to help them 'find their way' or 'become good'. He doesn't seem to know any danger in the world...

Background
The deep roar of the rain outside the dumpster was something near comforting to Moore as he sat beside his mate. Hours had gone by of whimpering and pained cries until five small bundles sat curled against their larger bodies. There was barely any warmth in their area of cover, meaning that cuddling was the only way to keep the newborn puppies from shivering through their first days in the world. The rain would go on for days, Moore only leaving his children to find scraps in the junkyard for them to feed on. All other time was spent in his protective curl around his pups, watching his mate as she tried her hardest to recover.
After days, the rain died down and Moore left the den once again to look for food. He rummaged for nearly fifteen minutes before the sound of worried yelps reached his ears and he made a quick run towards their make-shift home.
It seemed that a human had come and was removing their puppies from the dumpster. Moore attempted to stop the man, though there was no helping it when another human came running to stop him. He left the man with two bite marks, little damage compared to the mental hurt of his children being taken. He was left in the junkyard with his mate for a few days till another human came to take them away. His mate had already died from the stress, he was just on the edge...put down soon after in a vets office.
The life of the puppies was a lot more fulfilling then their fathers out on the street. Shortly after being taken, they were put in a foster home where the humans started taking special care of them. Routine vet visits and people coming to look at them was nothing new to the puppies, even welcomed at times.
It was about three months later when the puppies started meeting families who would take them home. Some were ones returning from their younger days, others completely new faces. The puppies started heading off to their own families, saying goodbye to their siblings. Austin was one of the first puppies to get snapped up.
He was taken by a young couple who brought him to their apartment in the city. Often, he would enjoy walks with his new father and short naps with his mother. It was a comfortable life for him and he enjoyed it a lot. Of course, he always did expect more out of his life and he set his mind on being a hero after witnessing a few police dogs at work outside.
Austin will forever remember the day when things went wrong. He was thrust out of the house in panic when his owners left him, and he's been wandering in search of new purpose since. His dream is really the only thing that he has from the good times with his owners...
