Do not steal.
Rebel, aka Reckless Rebel, began exploring the cove area. this part of town had become mysteriously affected by cold. there was even frost clining to some of the trees at this point. each time he stepped, the frozen ground stung his pads but he pressed on. each time he exhaled a small puff of steam rose up from his nose and mouth. the black lab/golden retriever mix's ears were raised, acoustics cupping any faint noise that might come to them. so far the town had been quiet so that was good. but he knew there were a lot of other species roaming around since the world seemed to stop existing as he knew it.
it creeped him out but he had learned to accept it now and just worry about keeping himself fed and safe. he didn't have time to worry about anyone else at this point. he was gruff on the outside but a softie on the inside. he knew he came across as cantankerous and stoic but deep underneath he wasn't like that at all.
the long furred shepherd was way too used to dealing with the cold weather. she remembered when she was only about a year old when the human pups would take her outside of the house and have her chase after snowballs. but, this was different. they were in the heart of fall, the shepherd knew this because of the colorful leaves that were beginning to fall from the trees. yet, somehow, the boats were frozen in the dock and there was frost that littered the deck under her paws. it made her uneasy, not that she was ever comfortable anyway. her steps finally stopped when a brief wind brought another dogs scent into her nose. she was curious, but not all at once. she had learned not to trust other canines, or any other living species for that matter. the only thing she could trust was herself. yet, at the same time, her heart longed to see someone else, to feel the presence of something other than fresh kill and the birds in the sky. but, all of her instincts were screaming no.
but, before she could control it, her paws were moving in the direction of the scent. she had to assume that the heart was always going to win over her mind, as she was always getting herself into trouble. the young dog forced herself to stop on the far side of the building, doing her best to keep her long fur flat and herself hidden from the black dog. but, just to her luck, he was walking right toward her. a smarter dog would have turned and left before the other got too close. though, caly wasn't like most dogs. she was sickly curious, and often found herself in situations that were no good. as he got closer, she waited for him to notice her, but she wouldn't greet him with a wagging tail and lolling tongue. instead, she curled her lip and stepped out of hiding, trying to block the larger brute's path. her head was dipped low and fierce snarl rang out of her sweet vocals.
"who are you and what do you want?"
she snarled, her tail curling and neck fur beginning to bristle.
Rebel stopped in his tracks and looked at the female shepherd. from her stance she was clearly not to thrilled with him being there. he slowly tucked his hindquarters into a sitting position, forelegs keeping his upper body erect. his ruby colored eyes regarded her carefully.
"Whoa easy there, miss," he said to her in a calm voice. "I'm not here to hurt you." he said blinking. "My names Reckless Rebel, Reck for short." he said to her softly. a cool crisp breeze blew his ebony fur around and he felt a shiver running down his spine. the fall weather had come in like a lion. his ears were raised, as he looked around at the area. there was not a lot of activity so far but that could be because of the weather. it was chilly and rainy and today was no exception. the sky was cloudy and overcast. in the distance he could pick up the scent of a storm approaching. he returned his eyes back onto the female.
"What is your name?" he questioned her keeping his body posture in a friendly manner so she wouldnt get spooked or even more upset.
the german shepherds gaze never faltered from the black brute before her. she watched as a moment of shock rolled over his features, and then he sat himself down right in front of her, his red gaze staring. for a moment, the young dog was unnerved by the red eyes, but she knew that with the mutations going around, that was the smallest change. therefore, she couldn't exactly complain if this was all that was wrong with the dog. "I'm not here to hurt you." the black dog told her and she flicked an ear in acknowledgement, but said nothing. he went on to announce his name, saying that she could call him reck for short. another twitch of her ears, but the shepherd still said nothing. instead, she kept her gaze on him for any motion that would give her the okay to either flee or attack.
her muscles remained tense under her silky coat, but it did seem that at least for this moment, reck intended not to show any violence. so after another moment of hesitation, the shepherd lowered her haunches and allowed herself to sit down as well. however, her muscles remained ready for action, though her eyes showed she was a bit more calm than she had been only moments before. her ears twitched as the black brute asked for her name and she looked past him, wondering if it was safe to give up that kind of information. eventually, she decided it couldn't hurt. "calypso." she barked, her voice tight, but not exactly unpleasant. she had never been the kind of dog that was good at hiding her emotions.
after another moment of silence, she continued. "but, you can call me caly." her ears twitched and she stared past reck. if one didn't know any better, they would think she was planning an escape route just in case. tag:Reckless Rebel

Rebel nodded at her name when she spoke it.
"that is a lovely name," he said to her softly watching her. clearly she didn't trust anyone and frankly he couldn't blame her one bit. the world now was totally different than what it was a long time ago. he tilted his head to the side. "So if you don't mind me asking caly, where is your family? are they here?" his tone was gentle and soft incase that was a touchy subject for her to speak about. his own family left him so he hadn't really cared much. he only worried about himself...but deep down he was hoping for someone to care about. he just never really blurted out his feelings. he was private. a cool autumn breeze fluttered his fur as he wrapped his tail around his back legs as he kept his ruby colored eyes on her. he was an original. the virus had affected him with these red eyes. so far though he had felt normal...nothing unusual. but there wasn't much information out there now to know what was going on. as of now he was just happy being himself and living a somewhat normal life.
Kaiser was making a trip down towards the coves, he hadn't been here in a long time, not that he cared or that it was a huge problem, he just didn't know of how much change this place has had in a whole. The whole world had changed in the various stages that this virus has spread, the world was a mess, a nightmare, and many canines had contracted the rather horrible disease. He was born in the midst of this mess, so it happened to be all that Kaiser knew of life, he didn't know any different and it was bound to be that way for as long as he lived this life of his. Not that it mattered to him, he didn't care about seeing the world burn underneath his paws. Kaiser had an egotistical nature, and he wasn't interested in changing himself for another being in this world; no matter what they felt of him. Kaiser made himself look large and in charge, but of course, this boy was not stupid, he knew when he needed to keep his nose out of something, he did, there were canines who happened to be bigger than him, and had size over him, there was no way he was going to fuck with that.
He was a rare breed of canine - he happened to be of Japanese origin, he was a Kai Ken, or a Tora dog, that they could be known as. More of medium in size, with a sleek and shiny fur coat of brindle, and pointed ears with a curled tail, Kaiser was more of a sight to be held. You didn't see too many of him running around in this world however that made him pretty happy in this situation. Red eyes spotted upon the group of two canines that were in front of his eyes in the plain daylight. One, a larger black male, and the other seemed to be female, of a German Shepherd breeding. He didn't make conversation, the Kai Ken brindle male just stayed in a distance. He sat down upon his hind legs, tucking them underneath of his middle sized body. his pointed ears pricked up and forward to the sound of their distant voices, merely observing, the male kept to himself to see if they would take notice - you could say he was on guard, but the pair looked harmless enough. With that, a cheeky half smile appeared on his lips.
that's a lovely name. the black brute before her had murmured. she could tell that he was speaking to her in a gentle, soft voice as though not to rub her the wrong way. and she had to agree that he was possibly right about it. calypso was a complicated dog. she didn't even know how she would react to certain situations. half the time, she surprised herself. the reactions could be as simple as the tone of your voice when you speak to her, or the way you tilt your ears. there was truly no way to know which way her nature would go - aggressive or friendly - and no guarantee that it will be the same in the next time you meet. the easiest way to put it was simple - complicated.
and the rebel's next question would prove just how unpredictable she could really be. if there was anything that would rub the she dog the wrong way it was bringing up her family. and she knew there was no possible way that rebel could have guessed this, but that didn't stop a deep growl in her throat from forming, or her neck and spinal fur from bristling. "none of your business," she snapped, allowing her jaws to clap loudly with bright white fangs showing. she then turned her back to the brute, catching a glance to the other red-eyed dog in the distance but not bothering to say anything. while it was never wise to turn your back to a stranger, she knew that if he were to even make one step in her direction, her large and hollowed ears would catch it within a heart-beat and give her at least some time to react, if not completely.
instantly, she was sorry for the way she had snapped, but the walls she had built up over the last few seasons kept her from turning around and apologizing. the only thing she could do now was stare off into the distance, ears flicked back to make sure he didn't do anything sneaky behind her, and a plastered snarl locked on her face.
