Appearance
Minerva is a canine far taller than any of her domestic relatives ; reaching the height of some of the largest wolves, though less than half of their weight and bulk. Aside from the thick brown mane on her throat and silky white tail, her coat is short; revealing her sleek body and incredibly long and powerful legs, much like a cheetah . She has tall and cartoonishly large ears mounted on top of her head. Right below them and parted by a black diamond-shape across her orange face are bright and astonishing red eyes. Her body is painted with various colorful markings of black, white, and orange by no likes that any other dog has ever seen, earning her nickname Calico.
Personality
Minerva is a witty and outspoken girl who has an extremely sharp tongue of silver. She can spin the prettiest poetry and the nastiest comebacks all in the same paragraph because of it.The only thing as quick as her wit to her mouth is her wit to her actions, actively adapting to the situation around her with relative ease. She comes off a little arrogant, especially when concerning wolves, which were her long-time rival back at home, but she ultimately means well by all canines she meets.
Minerva is quite tomboyish and rough when she wants to be. Her demeanor is more like that of a prince than a princess really. Compared to both royalties, she is especially casual. But for the most part, this attitude is just to hide her concerns and fears; her fear that she may never come across another of her kind and let her family down. Her fear that her virus might grow and take control one day...
Background
(How about a roleplay and a history, eh?)
"Oh? You...you wanna know all that?" Minerva asked rather nervously. One of her oversized ears cocked curiously to the side as her tone shifted into a question. "Its kind of a long story..."
"Well, if it means that much to you." The wild dog sighed in false exasperation before chuckling and muttering out a 'weirdo'. She sat down on the thick prairie ground, raising her head in thought for a moment before swallowing and starting. "I was born in the San Diego Safari Park to as natural of an African Wild Dog pack you can get around here." She stated with a smile. pointing her muzzle to the town in the distance. "My mother's name is...or was....Athena Melitta, and she held an empire of over 30 other great dogs like me, all of them being my brothers and sisters...well, except Talim, my dad. There were only 7 girls in the empire; me and my mom included. It isn't like you guys; the girls are the tough ones. The boys just usually go along with whatever the girls are doing. Some of them even act as the nannies to the new pups while we go out and hunt!" Minerva added with a giggle.
She cocked her head curiously to the side, tongue darting out to lick her lips as she began to vividly recall her old life. "The Melitta empire was often compared to this stuffy wolf pack in the San Diego Zoo area called the Felena wolves, much to both of our dismay. We are as far different as you could get, you know; wolf packs are all about rules and dominance and all that prickly stuff. Who wants that? Our empire was a family so we didn't need it; what reason would you not respect your mother and older brothers who raised you? Yeah, we groomed each other and played all day. We were never hungry because-lets be honest- we are probably the best pack hunters ever. I don't think we have ever failed in my lifetime. Thats the power of family. "
Minerva's white fluffy tail, which had gradually begun to wag faster and faster was slowly coming to a stop. A frown crossed her face and she was silent for a moment. "The humans slowly stopped coming to visit. We didn't think much of it. Who needs them anyway, right? But then some of my brothers started to act weird. This stupid sickness...it was tearing our family apart from the inside. The one thing we had that seemed to be indestructible..." Minerva stated with a low growl, her red eyes glowing with pain and anger. She shook her head and stood back up. "I don't want to dwell on it. Mom stuck around because she didn't want to abandon her family. She sent me out to look for more wild dogs and continue the family. Is that enough for you?" She ended with almost a snap before walking forward.
"Good. Now lets see if we can make it to the next town before sundown..."
