Shy Town {Claim}

Chiraq deeply inhaled the musky scent of the lake as a rather shrill wind swept in and took him by surprise. It had been so long since he had felt cooler weather. He had been traveling to the other ends of the land to see where his companions had spawned from. Quaint little towns scattered thinly across a barren and dusty land. The sun had burned down on him so fierce that he would slump as if he had a burden on his back. The need for water was so strong...

But he was back. Back to where there was plenty of water. A large lake surrounded the manmade peninsula and the sky was a pale gray, foretelling that rain would be coming soon. Yes, this was the home he knew and loved. 

Despite all the gloomy atmosphere above. The area cround him was somewhat vibrant from the time the humans were around and constructed it so. Chiraq was entering what was left of the building of old days; a rusted over sign that read "Navy Pier", or would if there was anyone around to read it. The building's ceiling had collapsed in and scattered itself across the grounds like shattered grass. Occasional bones and skulls of those who met their sudden death was all that there was left to tell the story of the event so many years ago. Since then, its become a new place; abandoned concession stands attract a plethora of small rodents, birds, and everything in between to scavenge, and the shelter from airborne threats with open light and water has made the area like a small, natural flower pot."Out from the decay of death sprouts new life..." the large beast growled, eyes locking in wonder at the sight of a bee landing on a flower growing near a half-shattered skull.

Chiraq left the pillars of the wall with his musky scent continued forward out of the building into the land without walls. Another rusted sign hung above, this one almost falling from its hinges, read "Navy Pier Park". Looking around, the vibrant atmosphere of the land still lingered. A colorful circular ride with animals suspended on poles was the one that attracted his eye the most. He quickly marked his scent across that one. It would make a good meeting place.The next thing he noted was a massive wheel lying across the ground. Around the bend of the wheel were many small rooms. They were perfect sizes for a dog however, so he was glad to know it was there. A tall pillar with seats suspended on ropes lay so dramatically lopsided and bent to the left, even a dog his size could leap into the swinging seats. Next, he strolled through the strange area with the scentless plants, ramps, and tracks to his favorite area. When it was flourishing, it was a place with strange scented waters. Now the water had been drained and filled with rain and drained in cycles until it was fresh and clear. He walked his way into the water, which only came up to his legs, and snagged one of the toy boats floating in it. A nice chew toy for later, he supposed. Spitting it out onto the land, he turned to lap at the water before making his way to his final destination and place to claim.

He entered a dark dome-shaped building whose pillars bended into an unseeable ceiling; only tiny flecks of light making it through holes in said dome, though the light touching the ground would be swallowed by darkness in a matter of a few feet. Broke nables and chairs were scattered all off to the sides making a clearing for the center. The area was completely hollow; silent when emptied but echoed every step like a giant megaphone. Right now, the whistling of the wind was echoing in the area. Chiraq was certain it was saying "Welcome home, my Dark King."

Sorry for such a long claim! I wanted to really get the imagery of the Navy Pier in Chicago I could while picturing how it would look post-apoc and it just turned into rambling. *humblebow*
